social responsibility carried out
at the Group level

EDF has always been active in implementing an innovative human ressources policy ans its goal is to see that it is out into practice throughout the Group. Social dialogue and protection of men and women: employees, customers, suppliers, and citizens are thus encouraged within the Group companies.

social dialogue: the norm rather than the exception

The creation of a European Works Council, in November 2001, was the first step towards social dialogue for the roup in Europe. Since then this consultation approach has gone worldwide with the setting up of a committee for dialogue in Latin America and the creation, in th Asia-Pacific zone, of a consultative committee the members of wich have been elected by direct universal suffrage by EDF's Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai employees.

European Works Council (CEE): providing ongoing information

The EDF Group's European Works Council was set up in 2002 and provides ongoing information on the Group's economic, financial and social strategies. In 2005, the objective of the review of the Works Council agreement was to get it to better reflect the Group's developments and to anticipate any possible changes in the scope and size of the companies within the Council. This review was also the occasion to affirm the goal of equal participation of men and women on the Works Council and to ensure that the countries are represented in its secretariat.

The agreement on EDF Group social responsibility (CSR) was signed in 2005 by the EDF chairman and all the labour unions representing the Group companies Its scope is broad: employees, customer and subcontractor relations, environmental preservation, and commitment to neighbourhood life.
A concerted effort has been made to roll out this agreement in the Group's companies since 2005 and is reveiwed annually by the global joint committee for dialogue on corporate social responsability (CSR).
